Make no mistake about it. There will be dozens and dozens of arrests. There will be recognition world wide on just how layered this fraud is. Your time in laughing all the way to the bank will be over. This fraud has affected not only Morrisseaus art market but all native artists who are trying to make a living at what they love most, the art and creating it. This fraud has stolen millions of dollars from all of us. The Canadian government has a role in helping to clean this up as another path towards truth and reconciliation.
My expectations are massive. I’ve been involved in this investigation for over 17 years now. Morrisseau’s family and children will have to directly apologize to us First Nations and all Canadians alike for their involvement in these crimes. Same goes for all dealers who sold these fakes including those crooked bastards at kinsmen Robinson galleries in Toronto Ontario. This is really a white settler colonial sickness where these asswipes have tried to make these fakes real. The Ontario superior court will need to acknowledge their role in authenticating fakes through their rule of law and absolutely getting it wrong.
There is a lot that has to be righted. I’m watching very closely. I’ll be focused on what the size and scope of this national police investigation brings to the table.
