Celebrating my birthday today and some recent success @ Jacobson native art

Good afternoon to each and everyone. Thank you for all the recent support and love over these last few months. The journey has been eye opening for many and the truth of what I’ve been investigating concerning the historic sex crimes of Morrisseau and those around his legacy has been permanently transformational. There is no going back to pretend land. Holding up sexual abusers as cultural icons and hero’s is over. It’s done. It’s finished. The delusion has been smashed. Now it’s in the hands of time. I’ll have more to say around these revelations but today is my birthday so let’s explore some good that I’m grateful to be apart of.

The above image is a screenshot from quilts for survivors which last week broke over 50K in likes, loves and support. It makes me feel very proud that my art can be used in such a healing and comforting process. I’m a 60’s scoop survivor myself and many in my indigenous family bloodlines are survivors of residential schools. So with my fabric line called: Healing waters, to see the positive effects being shared for these kinds of initiatives warms my heart and soul. It’s the whole reason why I decided to work with northcott fabrics. To let people from all walks of life have the opportunity to work with my designs.

This second image here is a sneak peek of my second Fabric line coming out in 2024 titled: Sacred Earth. This will also be a major success as the results from Healing waters was incredible. I aim to be very selective in how my work is both shared and represented. I’m not a big fan of whoring out my life’s work to greedy and selfish organizations or corporations that have nothing to do with really supporting us First Nations. It’s weak to do that and embarrassing really. I pride myself on being hard to find and hard to get. I prefer small limited edition runs and exclusive collections. It’s not about being famous and in everyone’s homes or businesses etc. Same can be said of the institutions. I don’t care about that.

I recently have partnered with a friend to handle my printing, my clothing line and other publishing goals regarding new exclusive designs and products. It’s exciting because first of all, he’s a genuine friend, a new found brother in life. I trust him, he trusts me. We are upfront and honest about everything. No secrets, no hidden agendas and no bullshit. I run my legacy and thank goodness it’s not in the hands of others who are non native. This is absolutely 100% an Anishanabe run business and artistic legacy. We Indians here @ Jacobson native art control our spaces, our voice, our platform. It’s authentic in every possible manner and should be this way for any others out there. This is how reconciliation moves forward for us. Support from our non indigenous friends and ally’s should understand that. To be authentically First Nations? It should be run by First Nations. Plain and simple as that.

Any how I am having a fantastic day and it’s a beautiful birthday hanging out with my family and my little boy who is the greatest birthday gift a father could ever have. With all the best love I could ever receive I’m happy that life is moving forward one day at a time. The joy of living and the spiritual power of multiple awakenings and transformations has me continually seeking the will of the Great Spirit each and every day. Chi-miigwetch and all my relations, MAJ

Enjoy this newly discovered track which truly resonates for me about the power of truth and transformation. It’s by Robert Babicz titled: Human forest. It’s simply magnificent 😎

Under the umbrella of truth and reconciliation, this current exhibition @ Royal Ontario Museum and Jacobson native art steps forward...

Good evening. Blessings moving forward and wishing wellness and healing to each and everyone. Thank you for all the kindness and support and here’s to better things ahead. Indeed this exhibition is about just that, moving forward. We must continue to find new paths and open new doors towards one another. This process of truth and reconciliation hasn’t been an easy one.

This project is about pushing forward with healing energy and power. Here in the 21st century we must continue finding new ways of creating space and dialogue in honour of the healing, the awareness and wisdom of reconciling our history. So that today can be a better place for our people. To learn to live in harmony together for the future. It starts with every single one of us. Any how, thanks for simply just understanding. We heal together. For the future...

All my relations and I’ll leave you with a quote from FB:

I didn’t even want to do this exhibition because of my awareness regarding genocide to us Indians from the hands of Canada and many of their institutions.

Finally I thought about the residential school children and thought to myself with them in prayer:

The art and our culture is the bridge to healing these wounds.

Let this be a channel through truth and reconciliation to help bridge the gap.

It’s the main reason why I did the line in the first place. Not only did I want indigenous peoples working with my designs but I and the souls of the children envisioned white old ladies and immigrants from all over the world who call our land home, working together. Creating “good medicine”.

Thus the line is called: Healing waters. 🌈🦅🌈

Celebrating the successful end of season @ Jacobson native art 2022 edition

Good evening to each and everyone. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve last posted but indeed it is because of a very successful season. I am absolutely delighted to have been able to touch thousands of souls this summer. What an incredible and life changing experience. The spiritual energy and power that was being exchanged throughout the summer of 2022 will last a lifetime.

I’m super happy to know that there is a needed spiritual force taking shape across the cultural fabric of our lands as First Nations and both Canadians and travellers from around the world got to share in the healing. Most important though this year is the growth and development of my boy, Sagein. He loved it at the gallery and open art studio this year. He’s only 4 years old but wow did he ever touch a lot of lives.

A real big and significant experience for him was meeting all kinds of new people from around the world. You could tell how impacted he was by everyone and he grew a liking to each and everyone who were inclined by his energy and presence. He was my sidekick at the gallery, helping dadda close a few sales and having a bunch of fun in the process.

I must admit it was a lot of hard work showing up and giving er everyday for weeks on end. Quite a shift after the pandemic and being withdrawn from human activity like the rest of the world was from 2020 to this summer of 2022. All in all it was fantastic and I’m looking forward to next season with new plans and actions that are manifesting. Until then my friends I say chi-meegwetch to all of you and wishing you all beautiful energy and love...all my relations, MAJ

Proud to announce: Worldwide campaign “Honouring the residential school children” with Northcott fabrics & Jacobson native art

Good day to each and everyone. It is with great pride and love that I am truly honoured to announce my new Official worldwide campaign with Northcott fabrics and Jacobson native art. This new partnership and collaboration with regard to “Honouring the residential school children“ will be an initiative formed in the spirit of truth and reconciliation. We are releasing the collection: HEALING WATERS from 2022 to 2024.

This initiative is centred in love and healing for all the families and children effected by the residential schools tragedy. The whole reason for this release is to help find a way for First Nations, Canadians, Americans and those around the world to contribute to the solution of healing and well being for all involved.

This campaign with the release of this collection “Healing waters” is specifically designed for quilters around the world. This is an opportunity for all of us to collaborate and work together. My goal is to see these chosen quilts to be offered to the families directly effected by these on going tragedies.

We all have a role to share in the healing of the cultural fabric of this country. This campaign is designed to help bring us together. There was a time not so long ago during first contact between us First Nations and settlers where the “gifting of blankets” came from a place of love, care, warmth and comfort.

Let us come together through the actions of these principles and share our gifts with those in need. Each selected quilt will be offered to a First Nations family directly effected. These quilts will obviously be donated to this cause. Your family name and created quilt will have an opportunity to be a part of this legacy.

You will be remembered with respect and honour for sharing your love with such a deep and transformative cause. We can find the answers. We can work together and heal. It is our birthright to appreciate one another and to find meaningful ways of widening the circle between us. All of us. We all have something to bring to the table of brotherhood, sisterhood. We are the human family.

More information will be presented over the next coming weeks. Please stay tuned to us here at: Jacobson native art. We’ll be working with Northcott on where to send the completed quilts for distribution in the next few weeks. We thank you with all of our hearts for wanting to participate and be a part of the solution.

We each have a unique and special part to play in each others lives. Let’s see how far we can reach into one another and share the transformation and power of “HEALING WATERS”. Here is a link to my profile at Northcott fabrics. It will also be a source of staying current with this campaign.

We are the solution we each have been searching for. The time for healing is now. We honour the past by learning from it, by making it better today. I truly and sincerely want to thank you all for sharing and participating in this opportunity. Together we can make the change we wanna see in our world. All my relations, MAJ
