Last night in Trail, B.C. we had our opening night for the group exhibition called: A gathering of indigenous voices. It was a wonderful energy and success for all of us artists. We brought our cultural energy and spirit as showcased in the paintings throughout the exhibition. We did an honour song and acknowledged the territory and the tribes. We brought everyone there into the circle and everyone most certainly felt apart of. An all inclusive vibe was the goal and no question we had achieved that. I had never been to Trail, B.C. before until last night. So it was certainly an incredible way and opportunity to be introduced to this vibrant community. The exhibit runs until October 8th, 2026. Indeed it was a joyful and fun experience and I got to meet new collectors who have been following my work on social media and in whom I never got to meet face to face until last night from the entire region. Over the last 10 years I’ve been building all kinds of unique relationships with the communities in the region. From Nakusp to Kaslo, from Nelson to Castlegar and Trail. From Creston to Cranbrook B.C. I live in Crawford bay B.C. in a very small village of 350 souls over here on the east shore of kootenay lake we are quite central to the entire region. The Kootenay’s have no doubt become a major creative playground for me. Living here in natures paradise is also where I gave birth to Woodland A.I. (Anishanabe intelligence) in 2024.
We also showed Kassondra’s paintings in the exhibition as we wanted to lift her spirit up as best as we all could. My son Sagein was present taking video clips, asking people questions and taking all kinds of pictures as well, documenting the experience. Pretty damn cool for an 8 year old boy living in the fast lane of the art world. He absolutely loved it and helped me to carry a prayer during the opening of the exhibition.
